BC Tech has named Josh Nilson, co-founder and General Manager of East Side Games, as one of three finalists for Person of the Year in the 2022 Technology Impact Awards.
At a ceremony held Thursday (June 16) evening, BC Tech proudly announced the 48 finalists across 12 Technology Impact Award categories who achieved exceptional success in the past year. With ambition as the theme for this year’s awards, the award finalists showcase the incredible accomplishments of BC’s tech companies.
The announcement was hosted as the inaugural event at the Hudson Pacific Properties innovation pavilion, with a live audience joined by many more via Zoom to celebrate the announcements from around the Province. “We are thrilled to host the Technology Impact Awards Finalist Announcement and bring the tech community together at our newly opened pavilion at the Bentall Towers. The TIAs awards program is a testament to the innovative and exceptional companies here in the tech ecosystem. We are thrilled to be a partner that helps those companies grow and scale here in BC,” commented David Haugen, Leasing Director, Hudson Pacific Properties.
One of the most celebrated announcements during the event was the new format for the Company of the Year – Startup category presented in partnership with Microsoft. 10 finalists were announced who will come together for a live ‘Dragon’s Den’ style event in September to narrow the field down to the final 3. One exceptional winner will be announced at the TIAs gala on 6 October and awarded a prize of $10,000 from BC Tech to fuel their growth.
Another key moment was the announcement of the finalists for the new 2022 award category presented in partnership with Vancity – GameChanger in Climate Leadership. “I am so thrilled to be celebrating the finalists for the Gamechanger Climate Leadership award,” shared Kirsten Sutton, Vancity’s CTO and Chief Innovation Officer. “At Vancity we believe that innovation plays a central role in addressing the climate crisis and are thrilled to see such exceptional companies being recognized through this award category.”
Winners in each category will be announced at the TIAs gala to be held on October 6th, 2022 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
