We love our faithful coffee machine at ESG, but like haircuts, it’s preferable to have the human touch when pouring a fancy coffee. Beginning in October, Green Coast Coffee’s Kelly McKenzie will serve us a dazzling array of handcrafted cold brew, espresso, tea, and apple cider to brighten our Tuesday and Thursday mornings in our very own kitchen.
McKenzie, a Sega kid and F-Zero fan, started his mobile vendor business in 2015 with his Cold Brew Bike (which actually starred in a few Hallmark Christmas films!). Working as a land surveyor, the BCIT grad started a side hustle that flourished into GCC today. Nowadays, his week is made up of working gigs, maintaining his four mobile units, and restocking too.
Looking ahead, McKenzie wants to spearhead a citywide cups-sharing program to reduce waste. On a similar note, he loves that he hasn’t used a single-use cup yet at our office — a first, in his years of working hundreds of gigs.
It’s no secret we’re big, old softies for 604-based independent businesses. Like saving two birds with a single stone, it’s even better when supporting local businesses like GCC aligns with giving us another reason to enjoy stepping into the office. And with help from our fearless Studio Coordinator, Amber, his custom elixirs are dropped off at our desks too!
Not a bad way at all to start the day.
